Direct answer

The Customer Spreadsheet report is usually the fastest starting point because it summarizes BHPH contract status in a familiar report. The M-8 export is more flexible when a buyer needs specific customer, contract, vehicle, balance, and payment fields in a sortable CSV. If you are unsure, send the Customer Spreadsheet first.

When to use the Customer Spreadsheet report

Use the Customer Spreadsheet when you want the quickest first look and do not yet have a buyer-specific data template. Frazer describes the report as showing the status of BHPH customers with respect to their contracts and specifically notes that it can help assess a potential sale of receivables.

This report is usually enough for Robert to tell you whether the file is workable and what information, if any, is missing.

When to use the M-8 export

Use Miscellaneous > 8 - Export Data when the buyer needs a sortable data tape or when the standard report omits an important field. Select CSV, include column headers, and choose the available fields that identify the account and describe the contract, balance, collateral, and payment performance.

The M-8 export is also useful when you expect several rounds of analysis because the saved file specification can make a later refresh easier.

When it makes sense to send both

Send both files when the Customer Spreadsheet gives a clean overview but the buyer needs additional detail for modeling. Use a consistent account identifier in both files so the records can be matched without relying on customer names.

Do not delay the first conversation for a perfect tape. A readable Customer Spreadsheet can establish whether the pool is a fit. A more detailed export can follow if the initial review moves forward.

Check the file before sending it

  • Open the file and confirm that the column headers are visible.
  • Make sure balances and dates display as values rather than error codes.
  • Remove duplicate rows and clearly identify paid-off or excluded accounts.
  • Use an internal account number in place of unnecessary customer identifiers.
  • Include the export date so the buyer knows when the balances were current.

Frequently asked questions

Which Frazer file should I send first?

The Customer Spreadsheet is usually the fastest first file. If you already have a clean M-8 CSV with the needed fields, send that instead or include both.

Does the M-8 export need every Frazer field?

No. Include fields relevant to the account, contract, vehicle, balance, status, and payment performance. Avoid unnecessary sensitive information during an initial review.

Can I send a PDF report?

A readable PDF may support an initial conversation, but a CSV or Excel file is easier to filter and model when the review becomes more detailed.
